Umeå University (UMU) was founded in 1965 and is Sweden’s fifth oldest university. Today, Umeå University has a strong international presence with students, teachers and researchers from all over the world. The university is one of the leading comprehensive universities in the nation with more than 4 300 employees, 360 professors, 1000 postgraduate students and 31 500 undergraduate students. A wide variety of courses and programs is offered and world leading research, and excellent innovation and collaboration opportunities. Main tasks in the project – UMU will co-lead WP1 together with Utrecht University. The main tasks of UMU are to develop in silico models for first tier screening (task 1.2), apply existing and develop new PBTK models to estimate levels in various in vitro systems (task 1.6), and develop a computational weight of evidence approach (task 8.1).
Prof. Dr. Patrik Andersson is a Professor of Environmental Chemistry at UMU with expertise in computational chemistry and he is leading a research group of currently three PhD candidates and one post doc. Andersson has led work package on in silico modelling tasks in the previous EU projects entitled SYSTEQ and ATHON.
